Photo-Identification Catalogues

A photo identification (photo-id) catalogue is the combination of the best photographs of the left and right sides of the dorsal fin of each dolphin sighted during the study. Each dolphin in the catalogue is distinguished by species (Indo-Pacific humpback and Australian snubfin dolphins) and within species with an identification number (below each picture). The humpback dolphins catalogue showed below is part of a larger database including humpback dolphins from other regions of the Queensland coast. The humpback dolphin 132 was the first humpback dolphin catalogued within the Capricorn-Curtis coast region.
All photographs for this study have been collected by the Capricorn Cetaceans Project  However you can help by sending your photographs using the Report a Sighting page .
All sightings will be validated and displayed on our interactive map (under construction) and we will replay to your e-mail with detailed information.
