Chiara Varoli

Biography
I am originally from Faenza, Italy; In 2008 I graduated in Biological Science at the University of Bologna and in 2012 at the same University I obtained a Master Degree in Marine Biology. For my undergraduate thesis I conducted an underwater visual census to assess fish diversity in Giglio’s Island (Tuscan’s Archipelago). Whereas for my master thesis I analyzed morphometric characteristics for the conservation of bamboo sharks spp. (Chiloscyllium griseum and punctatum) in aquarium. In the last five years I have extended my scientific horizons by working in both terrestrial and marine related projects. The varied from meiofauna taxonomy, bats toxicology and behavior, necropsies of marine vertebrates (sea turtles, fishes and dolphins) and marine conservation. In all these experiences my IT skills resulted to be very important especially in the data management.

I am interested in different aspects of animal conservation, but I am especially interested in the conservation of the marine ecosystems and their inhabitants, and this is why i took part to the Capricorn Cetaceans Project. I am very enthusiastic about this experience. This opportunity has been helping me to grow both professionally and personally.
